Meet Valerie

Valerie believes that every student is capable of greatness. By nurturing their curiosity, empowering them with confidence, and providing personalized support, she helps students not only grasp difficult concepts but also realize their own immense potential. With a strong foundation in both engineering and education, Valerie’s approach is rooted in the belief that each student brings unique strengths to the table, making them an invaluable part of both their academic and broader communities. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Lawrence Technological University, Valerie continued her academic journey by completing research in geotechnical earthquake engineering and engineering education for her Master’s degree. Driven by a deep commitment to teaching, she earned an alternative teaching license from Metropolitan State University and holds a Professional Colorado Teacher License with a Mathematics Education (7-12) endorsement. With over 12 years of experience in education, Valerie has taught a broad range of subjects, including STEM (grades K-12), Science (grades 4-8), Math (grades 3-10), and Math Intervention (grades K-12), primarily in Title I school districts. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with communities to develop and implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and early intervention programs through the Response to Intervention (RTI) system, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Meet Kat

Kat strongly believes that all students have the capacity to learn and grow. Each student possesses unique skills and strengths that they can utilize to be their best. Kat earned a Dual Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She has a master’s from George Mason University in Special Education with a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. She holds a Professional Teaching License in the state of Colorado with the following Endorsements: Early Childhood Education (0-8), Elementary Education (K-6), and Special Education Generalist (5-21). She completed her student teaching in Dublin, Ireland before teaching English in South Korea. Kat worked for Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps servicing Title I schools, developing and implementing a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) program, setting up an after school tutoring program, organizing tiered summer school support, and implementing a bird conservation movement. As a professional educator, Kat has taught Elementary Education to students from kindergarten to sixth grade and taught Special Education to students from kindergarten to twelfth grade.

Meet Matt

Matt is a professionally licensed English/Language Arts teacher in the state of Colorado. He has 10 years of experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students. Specializing in writing development and literacy skills, Matt’s instruction is focused on supporting students based on the unique ways they process information and engage as readers & writers.
